storytelling in the service industry

Quality storytelling is essential in every part of life, setting the stage for magical moments to be permanently etched in many memories.

Currently, well-crafted experiential storytelling is rare to the point of becoming extinct.

Narratives in the service industry have changed for the bland without notice or mutual agreement. Lip service to delight has shown up as generic, leaving an aftertaste of disappointment. Convenient repetition has usurped imagination and awe for the quick buck.

Yes, the past few years have shaken service, yet… that is no excuse for cheap wallpaper on a good foundation. Experiencing quality, delight-filled service is becoming harder to find - even when one has ample funds to do so.

Additionally, there is the other side of the coin.

A guest is just as responsible by how one shows up. One can add to, or take away from the magic of the moment. High-end storytelling goes both ways, it’s an energetic conversation.

So. How can these broken stories be made into a beautiful mosaic?

As an experience crafter in any service, how can one emulate quality service with a unique twist? Tell the same story in a different way and deliver a well-thought-out, refined experience, sprinkled with delight.

The best question to ask oneself: Would you pay for your own experience?

To the guest - show up with FULL presence.

How?

Leave that ‘pacifier' (one’s cell phone) at home or on airplane mode and have a sexy conversation over a good bottle of wine. Give jeans and sweatpants the day off and wear those gorgeous threads hiding in the back of one’s closet. Lean into the occasion and truly be in the moment.

Moments are all we have, and to hedonistically experience each one is a delicious way to live.

This conversation is ongoing and I for one can’t wait to see the ways we show up for each other, creating moments forever remembered.

PS- To those who already are adding to the dialogue of showing up.

Thank you. ❤️
